Craft Your Own Abstract Wall Hanging: Punch Needle Basics Course (English, Berlin)

Join Berlin-based contemporary textile artist Lillian Morrissey in her studio for a beginner-friendly workshop on punch needle embroidery and tapestry design.

You’ll learn the basics of this unique embroidery technique, while designing and creating an abstract textile wall hanging using simple abstract shapes and a broad selection of coloured yarn and pre-dyed natural cotton. All materials, including punch needles, fabric, and yarn, are included within the cost, so you can just show up and dive right into stitching your own 30x54 cm wall piece.

In this relaxed 4-hour session, you'll begin with a quick introduction to some basic design and colour principles, and receive easy-to-follow instructions on using paper collage to create a geometric or organic abstract composition. It’s a great opportunity to learn about art history, textiles and design in a welcoming group setting, and at the end you get to take your wall hanging directly home with you.

Ideal for those who want a simpler version of the three-day in-depth workshop, where you have more time to create a complex design, this course focuses instead on creating something beautiful with just a few shapes and colours. This workshop requires a minimum of 3 participants. To register for a studio workshop, fill out the contact form below, specifying the date and type of course. When a minimum have registered, you will be sent a confirmation email with the cost invoice attached - if the minimum is not reached you'll be invited to choose another date.

• Workshops are non-refundable, but in the case of illness or unexpected issues you can ‘transfer’ your credit to another date.
